MISSION & HISTORY.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Korea were established in 1992, and educational exchanges began in earnest in 2003. At the beginning of the exchange, the number of students was small, but after the official visit of the presidents of the two countries, the field of exchange and study abroad programs between two countries has expanded.

In particular, from 2008, the number of Azerbaijani students studying in Korea started to increase. As a result, interest in the organization of the student council was raised among students, and an internet forum was created to discuss organizational issues among Azerbaijani students, where various opinions of students were shared and developed.

On March 21, 2009, the inaugural general meeting was held in Seoul, South Korea. The initial name of the organization was "BUTA Azerbaijan-Korea Student Council".

On February 10, 2015 the name of the organization was changed to "BUTA Azerbaijan-Korea Friendship Association", due to increasing cooperation in diverse fields of two countries, and the role of our organization in stimulating the partnerships.

BUTA Azerbaijan-Korea Friendship Association works to ensure the activities of the Azerbaijani diaspora in the Republic of Korea. Our mission is to strengthening national unity and solidarity among Azerbaijanis living in Korea, informing the Korean public about the history, modern life, level of socio-economic development and culture of the Azerbaijan, promote scientific, cultural and youth relations between Korea and Azerbaijan.
